Kiwi House Restaurant
For any homesick Kiwis out there, or in fact anyone who enjoys Kiwi cuisine read on.
Kiwi House restaurant is owned by the Matsunuma family who have a passion for NZ. Mr Matsunuma will actually be returning to live in NZ next year, but don't worry, his son (Taichi) is more than capable of tempting your tastebuds.
I found out about the restaurant just a few months ago, but the restaurant has been running for several years and has a great reputation locally and in the Kansai area. Many magazines like the Kansai Walker have done stories about Kiwi House.
Why go? Easy- the food is great! The staff are friendly and it's the closest place you'll get to being in a real Kiwi atmosphere in Japan. The restaurant itself is situated on the first floor of Mr Matsunuma's house. The house is of course Kiwi-style. Yes, the wine, the dishes and the music are all from NZ and if you're feeling a bit ill over the winter you can just pop in and pick up a supply of propolis to cure your colds.
When you drop in make sure you browse at the pictures on the wall. Most of them have been drawn by Mr Matsunuma from his wonderful memories of Aotearoa.
