Divorce
Divorce laws blatantly show how unfair the system can be.
It takes 6 months for a divorce to be recognized if it is filed by a women alone.
A divorce is automatic, on the spot, if filed by the male.
Assets are pretty much split 50/50 in divorce settlements and if one person has been treated unfairly in the marriage-partner having an affair etc, alimony is often paid out.
It seems I have upset someone with my comments above. I apologize but I would also like to add that my ex-husband (Japanese) does not contribute one yen towards his children's up-bringing, and I have also given him the opportunity to visit his kids whenever he wants, which unfortunately isn't very often.
I have added on the reader's comments below;

I have some real doubt about this statement.

I confirm this, and the expression "treated unfairly" is quite vague, amazingly enough, the woman is always the one treated unfairly mainly because once she got married she quitted her job and have therefore no official income (in fact most women take care of the household money and always arrange themself to save a good part of it for themself).
If your are a man this mean you will have to pay out a huge amount of money even if you did not do anything wrong.
Moreover women are always granted custody of the children, the father can kiss goodbye his children, the idea of visitation rights does not exist in Japan.
